Photo journal of Jamestown and Yorktown

I didn't get a chance to upload all of our pictures until tonight and I wanted to share a few of my favorites from our trips to Jamestown and Yorktown. This was a great trip for all of us. It was hot but the kids seemed to really enjoy the history, especially the hands on parts and demonstrations.

On the ship Discovery that came to Jamestown with the first settlers.
Evan and Jonathan pose in a tobacco field just outside the Jamestown fort.

Lindsay in the General's tent at Yorktown. This was luxury compared to the soldiers' tents.

The kids pose with a minuteman who shot his musket for the kids.

Laurel got to help out with the firing of the cannon. She said she was afraid of the sound and didn't want to watch, but then she volunteered!

I put this picture in because while in the fort of Jamestown we happened upon another member of the church visiting the site. Maybe we just stick out as an LDS family, but I think that's a good thing! It is also a good shot of the inner fort area.

Laurel's so funny. I think it is fun for her to pretend to be scared. I bet she secretly loves the Matterhorn.
How neat for your kids to see all of that historical stuff when they are little. Family vacations are the best.
