First Day of School 2010

I thought I was totally ready for the kids to be back in school. I was definitely ready for my job as referee to be lower on my list of things to do each day. However, this morning held a few surprises for me.
I have been working hard to get everything ready, so things went very smoothly this morning. The kids were up by 6:30 and quickly got busy with the morning routine. Michael left for work later than usual and the pictures were taken by him.
Laurel walked to school with her best friend Meghan and Lindsay walked with the rest of Meghan's family that still goes to Westridge. Evan was the only one who wanted a ride and to be walked into class. As I was walking him into the school, the tears started to flow. I fought them back so I could get him into class looking excited and happy for him to ease his apprehension. Once he was settled, I hurried back to the car with Jonathan as the tears came quickly. I am sure being 33 1/2 weeks pregnant didn't help anything, but I love my kids and enjoy each of them for their uniqueness and sweetness.
This is the best picture of all of them together. I will not miss being a referee, but I will miss spending so much time with each of them. I also am realizing that each year with them is a blessing as they gradually move towards their independence.
How did they get so old? Time flies!
I know they love each other. Siblings are the best! I know how much I love my siblings and wish I could spend more time with each of them.
Lindsay is starting 3rd grade. She will get to be the big sister and show Evan the ropes and make sure he gets to the right place at the right time. She is a great helper.
Evan is starting 1st grade today and will be eating lunch at school for the first time today. It is hard to imagine him being gone all day at school.
Laurel is starting 4th grade at a new school called the Center for Accelerated Studies. It should give her a good opportunity to work hard and learn lots of new things.
Jonathan felt a little left out, but he will start preschool in 2 weeks. He seemed to like the idea of having his mom to himself.

Wish I could be there. They all look so grown up. Looks like you guys moved your furniture around again. I swear your house is different every time I visit. Tell them their Auntie says good luck at school. I know they will do great.

Being a mom is so bittersweet sometimes isn't it? You are such a good and loving mama! They are lucky to have you. They really do look grown up! I love them so much. I hope they have a wonderful year!

I don't know why it is, but I always tear up as I drop off the kids the first day of school. This is my last year driving. Molly will ride the bus like her brothers next year. Bittersweet is a good description.... They grow up so quickly!
